Plastic pollution is a hot topic nowadays, we are literally drowning in a soup of plastic. Worldwide people are taking initiatives to ban the use of single use plastic and to clean up the vast plastic garbage patches.
Despite their negative impact on the environment plastics are technically a durable material; lightweight yet strong, resistant to many chemicals, easy to process etc.

In our consumer society we struggle with the disposal of plastic products at end of life which is a pity since efficient recycling is possible if collected and processed in a correct manner.

The Industrial Design program of Ghent University Campus Kortrijk wants to demonstrate how individuals and (small) organizations can take initiative and process plastic “waste” into a valuable recourse for the production of everyday products.
